Jeremy “Blue” Lawson
With over 20 years of diverse building experience, Jeremy Blue Lawson of Lawson Construction has participated in the building of over 50 homes and countless repairs and remodels. With a background that began while working with Habitat for Humanity, “Blue” found a passion for carpentry and building back when he was in his early 20’s. Since those early days swingin’ a hammer for the Knoxville Tennessee Habitat for Humanity affiliate, Blue has helped build Timber-frame log cabins in the mountains of North Carolina, post-and-beam barns and pavilions in the low country of South Carolina and Georgia, and custom ranch homes in Northern California. Paying dues with construction crews on countless job sites & picking up skills along the way- this is how a Carpenter is made. When hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005, Lawson Construction was there to help the communities of Biloxi, Mississippi and New Orleans, LA -first working with the Red Cross to assist in disaster relief and then by working with FEMA on Operation Blue Tarp- providing temporary roof repairs to families whose homes had been damaged by the storm.
After the Hurricane season was long over, Lawson Construction was there to offer roofing repairs and general carpentry services for almost 2 years. That much time on a roof will take its toll on anyone, and from 2008 to 2010 Mr. Lawson found himself in North Carolina leading a crew of guys as foreman of an Industrial Maintenance Company who specialized in residential and commercial repairs, renovations and maintenance. Working on condo complexes, apartment buildings and town homes, the crew replaced wall after wall of wood, vinyl and Hardiplank siding, built decks, home additions, as well as doing major structural amendments by raising/jacking buildings whose foundations had settled. During this time Blue’s experience in roofing proved very valuable and before long he had a reputation as the guy to call if you had a problem with a skylight. Some mornings he would locate a leak, tear the skylight out, replace it with a new one, seal it in, flash around and “feather in” all the shingles around it making it blend seamless with the old roof- all before Lunch.
These days Blue Lawson -aka The Southern Gentleman – is excited to make his return to the Blue Ridge Mountains after a 6 year period of building custom projects in the beautiful Sonoma and Napa Counties of Wine Country, California. Feeling blessed to be back in the South, amongst family and friends, and with a more specialized and narrow scope of work, Lawson Construction now strives to weave together artisan quality woodworking with a strong knowledge of building practices resulting in a Company who chooses to work with projects that are not just practical- but beautiful.
